Qualifications: Notably proficient and extensive experience in sales, office management, phlebotomy, prophylactic treatments, extractions, gingival flaps, restraint, IV catheter placement, arterial line placement, urinalysis, cytology, radiography, inoculations, routine health care management, small animal surgery/anesthesia, and emergency/intensive care. Also trained in Equine anesthesia by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. Remarkably flexible to the needs of doctors, clients, patients, and co-workers. Education: 1991-1995: San Jose State University Bachelors of Science, Biochemistry, 2002: Equine Anesthesia, Dr. Michael Tomasic Professional Licensure State of California RVT License # 6974 State of New Mexico RVT License # 2329 Professional Membership New Mexico Registered Veterinary Technician Association American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians Experience: 2002-Present: Los Lunas Animal Clinic Registered Veterinary Technician Currently the only Registered Veterinary Technician at this multi-doctor, mixed animal practice, managing a staff of 4 Veterinary Assistants, 2 Customer Service Representatives, and 2 Kennel Assistants. Mainly responsible for running small animal anesthesia, and the only technician trained to run equine anesthesia for colics and other elective surgeries that are referred to the hospital, as well as other livestock such as goats, alpacas, and llamas. Carry a pager in case of after hours emergencies. Provide after hour care for critical equine patients after surgery, as well as perform technical duties during regular business hours. Responsibilities include, but not limited to phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, running our CBC, chemistry, electrolyte, blood gas equipment, sterilization, create courses for staff member for continuing education, client education, radiology, dentistry, creating the technician/assistant on-call and regular hours schedule, and animal restraint. Currently the only technician that can perform specialized skills in radiology ie. cystograms, and upper GI series. Project manager in 2004 in obtaining AAHA accreditation. 2000-2001: Academy Animal Hospital Veterinary Technician Worked part-time for a multi-doctor practice assisting in all aspects of small animal medicine in a general practice. Frequent duties included IV and urinary catheter placement, blood transfusions, patient monitoring, and chemotherapy. 1998-2000: Grove Way Veterinary Hospital Lead Technician and Office Manager As lead technician, responsible for supervising, training, and providing continuing education for 4 technicians. Also performed duties as a technician in a 3-doctor practice, assisting in all aspects of small and large animal medicine in a general practice. Office manager duties included, but not limited to, overseeing a staff of 10 employees and 3 doctors, determined staff needs, placing employment ads, interviewing and selecting qualified personnel, scheduling, providing orientation and training in company policies and practices, inventory, purchasing, and customer service. 1994-1998: Mission San Jose Veterinary Hospital Supervising Technician As supervising technician, responsible of overseeing 3 technicians during the afternoon and evening shifts, as well as performing duties as a technician in a 4-doctor, state of the art, small animal general practice. 1996-1997: Vet Care Emergency Clinic and Alameda County Emergency Clinic/Bay Area Vet. Specialty Clinic Relief Technician Responsible for providing relief assistance during technician shortages in a 5 doctor emergency/specialty clinic. Carried a pager in case of complicated emergencies or unexpected employee absences.
