Summary of qualifications Surgical; My experience with Dr. Ron Fallon has offered me exposure to advanced surgical procedures including Total hip replacements, TPO’s, FHO’s, Total ear ablations, many types of fractures using various plating, pinning and external fixation devices as well as soft tissue surgeries requiring stapling, gel foams, and other advanced techniques. Anesthesia; Due to the ambulatory nature of my work with Dr. Fallon I am familiar with many types of inhalant anesthetic systems and induction drugs. I have used ECG, pulse oximetry, temp probes, doppler units, and esophageal stethoscopes. I have maintained animals through procedures such as diaphragmatic hernia repair and PDA’s manually and with a respirator. Intensive Care; My experience with intensive care monitoring at Vet Referral Assoc. gave me exposure to the use of infusion pumps, thoracotomy tubes, nasal oxygen systems, gastric feeding tubes, etc. I performed advanced treatments such as blood transfusions, oxygen therapy, rehabilitative physical therapy, and care of the recumbent patient. EDUCATION: 1989 : Catonsville Community College Baltimore County, MD Received AA Degree in Liberal Arts 1989: Essex Community College Baltimore County, MD Received AA degree in Veterinary Technology Accreditation’s National and Maryland State Registration as a Veterinary Technician received in June 1989. Registration is current until June 2009. WORK EXPERIENCE: 1995-present: Countryside Veterinary Clinic Ellicott City, MD Head Veterinary Technician This position involves training of personnel, management of hospital policy, advanced skills in surgery, anesthesia, radiology, patient monitoring, and laboratory skills. Particular area of study has been cytological evaluation of tissue and fluid samples including skin and ear cytology, lymph node aspirates, the cytology of neoplasms, body cavity fluids, and anemias. I have also completed the Ultrasound training course offered by Universal and am routinely performing in hospital abdominal ultrasound studies. 2003-present: Carroll Community CollegeWestminster, MD Instructor/ Program developer This position involves instruction of the Veterinary Assistant curriculum to students of all adult ages and walks of life. The program involves coordination of student practicum sites, assessment and evaluation of skill levels and aptitudes, as well as instruction in basic veterinary animal handling and care. Program development includes upgrading the curriculum to meet current standards of care and the development of a Power Point presentation to coincide with the written text. The developments that I formatted are now being taught in 16 Colleges in Maryland and 6 Colleges in other states. 1993-1995: Ambulatory Veterinary Services Ellicott City, MD Surgical Veterinary Technician This position involves Pre surgical prep (IV catheterization etc.), Instrument prep Anesthetic induction, intubation, and maintenance, IV fluid therapy. patient monitoring, surgical prep, and patient recovery. 1988-1989 Maryland Zoological Society Baltimore, MD Head Clinical Technician This position involves triage, treatment and research on a variety of different species. Particular areas of interest include the use of dart, CO2, and conventional weapons for drug administration as well as IVF, and malarial research projects. 1986-1989: Veterinary Referral Associates Gaithersburg, MD ICU Technician This position involves critical care maintenance of patients from the surgery, oncology, opthamology, neurology, and internal medicine specialties.
