Assisted in and prepped for surgery: Placed IV catheter, induced, intubated, scrubbed, maintained and monitored patients under inhalant anesthetic (both Isoflorane and Sevoflorane) using pulse oximeter, EKG, Doppler and IV fluid pumps. Performed cystocentesis with ultrasound machine and assisted with cardiac and abdominal ultrasound. Performed dental cleaning, polishing (using Dentalaire Megasonic 2000 dental machine) and dental charting. Performed digital dental radiographs. Performed radiographs, barium series, developed and used telemedicine (radiology consultations). Ran diagnostic testing on blood using Ace Alera Clinical Chemistry System, Beckman Coulter CBC machine and WBC differentials on blood smears. Provided advanced nursing care to critically ill patients. Monitored flow sheets for appropriate dosages and treatment protocols; assisted, oriented and instructed veterinary students, residents and interns in technical skills during procedures and treatments. Provided patient monitoring, providing supportive therapy and treatments as well as emergency procedure protocol (including basic CPR). Sent diagnostic samples to laboratory and maintained all pertinent records. Provided post-procedural observations, including pain assessments, treatments and complete medical records. Prepared animals for surgery; maintained and monitored anesthesia and post surgical care and pain management. Necropsy: euthanized animals per protocol and cut and catalogued samples for histpathology.
